Course content
Owerview of lectures: 1. History of concrete structures, basics of technology and execution of the reinforced concrete structures 2. Properties of concrete, exposure classes, special concretes 3. Reinforcement, working of the plain, reinforced and prestressed concrete 4. Calculation model, principles and theory of designing, limit states and standards for designing of CS 5. Action on structures 6. Linear structural analysis of simple structures 7. Dimensioning of the bended concrete cross-sections 8. Dimensioning of the cross-sections loaded by shear 9. Column punching through the floor slab and foundation pad 10. Dimensioning of the eccentrically pressured cross-sections, slender columns 11. Plain concrete, strut-and-tie models, serviceability limit states 12. Detailing of the reinforcement of the members, drawings of the concrete structures

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with reinforced concrete as a building material, with the possibilities of its use in civil engineering and architecture, and then to get students acquainted with the elements of reinforced concrete structures, with their dimensioning and reinforcement.
Basic knowledge of the reinforced concrete as a construction material, its properties and scope of use in the building construction, basics of designing of the reinforced concrete members. Ability to read drawings of the concrete structures.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the courses STA1 and STA2

Written assignment, Test

Participation in lectures and exercises at least 75% Elaboration of the given examples
