Learning outcomes
Students of the course Materials for Medical Textiles will acquire in-depth knowledge of textile materials, fibers, and products used in healthcare. They will learn to understand the properties, functions, and specific requirements placed on textiles for individual medical applications. The lectures will comprehensively introduce a broad spectrum of medical textiles?from wound dressings and surgical sutures to implants and advanced biomaterials. Students will become familiar with their production, properties, and practical use. The course will also include the opportunity to compare material samples and experimentally investigate their properties, enabling students to gain hands-on experience with materials used in real healthcare environments. Attention will also be given to composite materials, which play a key role in modern medicine; students will learn about their principles, manufacturing methods, and wide range of applications. In addition, the lectures will trace the development of medical materials from their historical origins to the latest trends and innovations, providing course graduates with a comprehensive overview of the past, present, and future of textile materials in healthcare.
Students acquire knowledge of the subject and will focus in medical materials and products.
Prerequisites
The course deals with health products, the materials used. The knowledge of textile fibers and core technologies.
