Lectures (topics): 1. Business - structure, the role of the state. 2. Setting up a business, legal forms of business. 3. Business organisation. 4. Ownership and capital issues of a business, balance sheets, depreciation policy. 5. Revenues, costs, profit, costs, classification of costs, costs calculation. 6. Business strategy, basic concepts. Top, tactical, and operational management of a business. 7. Financial management, types and ways how to finance an enterprise. Cash flow management. Financial analysis of an enterprise. 8. Prices, objectives and methods of price policy of a business. 9. Marketing. Marketing tools. 10. Investment activities of a business, financing and planning investment, investment efficiency evaluation, investment risks, portfolio. 11. Business strategies, basic concepts. Top, tactical, and operations management of a business. 12. Human resources in a business, content and objectives. Motivation and reward. 13. Business grouping, concentration, mergers. 14. Crisis development in a business. Remediation programme. Liquidation of a business. 15. Bankruptcy and methods of solving (insolvency proceedings). Seminars (topics): The seminars cover the information presented during the lectures. Weeks 1-2 cover the basic concepts and relations in business administration, the legal framework, requirements and prerequisites for setting up a business including the legal forms of doing business. The following weeks are devoted to discussions and practising the given topics including computational tasks. A credit test is sat at the end of the semester.

Learning outcomes
|
To introduce students to the objectives of a business, the legal framework of the business environment, the ownership and capital structure , basic forms of an organisation and management, further, to business management, pricing policy, basics of financing, principles and methods of investment, business crisis management (remediation, bankruptcy, and insolvency proceedings).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
