Course content
|
Theme 1: Foundations of sustainable development and key areas on the road to a circular economy - Describe the basic idea of sustainable development. - Explain the interconnection between the environment and the circular economy, which seeks to use natural resources more efficiently. - Understand the concept of the 'cradle-to-cradle' product life cycle and how this concept relates to natural cycles. - Compare the different waste management options within the waste pyramid. - Recognise the importance, benefits and business opportunities arising from new ways of converting waste into resources. Theme 2: Creative tools for sustainable development and business plan development - Understand the importance of developing specific "green" competences (not only) for managers. - To learn and understand the principles of selected creative tools used in practice (not only) by managers for idea generation and decision making (mind map, brainwriting, Pareto rule, Ishikawa diagram, etc.). - Use appropriate creative tools in model situations. - Know the concept of start-up and the specificities of setting up an economic activity. - Understand pricing as part of the marketing mix. - Learn the basics of creating a business plan in a simplified form (e.g. lean canvas). Topic 3: Application of theoretical knowledge and inventiveness of participants in the design of a sustainable product. - Design their own sustainable product respecting the principles of circular economy using knowledge of pricing/business/... - Build a simplified business plan for the proposed product, including a product price proposal. - Present the design of the actual product and the business plan associated with it.

Learning outcomes
|
The course prepares graduates to deal with economic situations with an emphasis on sustainable and responsible socio-economic development. Graduates will gain knowledge of circular economy, waste management and sustainable development, as well as skills in business projects such as business plan preparation, team management, project management and creative management techniques.
Graduates will receive: - Knowledge of: concepts related to circular economy, waste management and sustainable development - Skills: business project skills such as developing a comprehensive business plan, team management, project management and creative management techniques. - Competences: they will be able to deal with standard economic situations with a view to sustainable and responsible socio-economic development.

Prerequisites
|
Attainment of the age of majority and completion of secondary or vocational secondary education, higher vocational education or university education. In addition to the above requirements, applicants will be admitted on the basis of a separate admission procedure for education in CŽV programmes according to the conditions set by EF TUL. The deadlines for submission of applications and admission procedure, the conditions of admission procedure and the amount of payment for education are announced by the Dean of EF TUL.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Combined examination
Verification of theoretical knowledge by an online test accessible on the TUL e-learning portal. Verification of practical skills through presentation and visualization of your own business plan for a sustainable product. Graduates will receive a micro-certificate.
