Course content
(A) Theory of rights. 1. the right, legal standard, the sources of law. (B) Constitutional law. 2. the Constitutional law, the Constitution of the Czech Republic. 3. the Fundamental rights and freedoms. (C) the European Union. 4. the European Union. (D) Civil law 5. Recodification in private law. The transitional provisions of the new civil code. 6. Private Law: the concept, the binding legal norms, fundamental principles, legal fact. 7. Persons: concept, of a natural person, juridical person, the consumer, the entrepreneur, the representation. 8. Things: concept, distribution, part of things, securities. 9. the Absolute property rights: concept, rem, tenure, ownership, co-ownership. 10. Legal interests: concept, law of construction, easements, the lien,withholding right. 11. the Relative economic rights: the concept, the emergence of obligations, the Treaty, the content of the obligations, consumer contracts, joint debts and claims, change in obligation, the determination of obligation, security and reinforce of debt. 12. Obligations of legal negotiations. 13. Obligations from tort and other legal reasons. 14. the Legal adjustment of civil and commercial obligations before the effect of the new civil code.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The principal aim of the subject is to create legal consciousness of students based on the knowledge of legal concepts necessary for understanding law, its aim, development and organization, and its proper application to practice. The student will acquire the orientation in the Czech rule of law and usage of legal sources. Constitution of the Czech Republic, European Union, civil law, natural person and legal entity, real rights, law of obligations, commercial law, entrepreneur, company and co-operative, business duties.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme. Students will gain competence to apply knowledge from this course in the course Introduction to Law II, in practice.
Prerequisites
Students don't need special knowledge or visit other courses.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Exam: written. Test from subject content with a success rate of at least 60%.
