Course content
1. Models of addiction as a basis for prevention and qualified help - neurobiological basis of addiction, developmental factors, social factors. 2. Addiction as a manifestation of psychopathology - definition of addiction, types of addiction, personality predisposition to addiction, motivation to addiction, co-morbidity with other types of somatic disorders, health complications, social complications. 3. Early intervention - harm reduction. 4. Counseling and therapy. 5. Prevention of addiction disorders in children and youth. 6. Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol - culturally tolerated addiction disorders in the Czech Republic.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with basic adictology topics.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Adictology 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational practice
Prerequisites
Student has knowledge of pedagogical psychology.
