Course content
The course presents selected psychological knowledge necessary for understanding and managing the educational process. It focuses in particular on the biological foundations and social determinants of the psyche, the characteristics of cognitive, motivational, volitional, and emotional processes, as well as knowledge for learning and teaching, personality traits and characteristics, and psychological methods and procedures for understanding personality. Subtopics: 1. The subject of psychology in a brief outline of the main psychological trends, the use of psychology in educational processes and relationships. Biological foundations of the psyche, social determinants of the psyche. (2 hours) 2. Characteristics of cognitive processes - memory, learning, attention, thinking, and speech and their educational context (2 hours) 3. Emotions and motivation, motivational and volitional processes in school teaching. Connections with educational practice and the role of the teacher in teaching (2 hours) 4. The concept of personality in psychology, development and formation of personality, structure and dynamics of personality - temperament, abilities, skills, motivational disposition, character (2 hours).

Learning outcomes
Objectives - I am familiar with the basic psychological contexts of educational practice; - I understand the importance of human biology (e.g., in connection with developmental learning disorders, autism spectrum disorders, etc.); - assess the impact of social determinants on individual development (e.g., in the context of educational interventions, individualized work with students, with regard to family background, etc.); - am familiar with cognitive processes and their educational contexts - I am familiar with the motivational, emotional, and volitional aspects of teaching (e.g., in the context of didactic processing of the curriculum). - I understand the psychological definition of personality, its structure and dynamics, and can distinguish between the concepts of temperament and character, abilities and skills, and can apply this knowledge in the learning and teaching process.
