Course content
The course emphasizes a thorough knowledge of developmental psychology, specifically the individual age periods with an emphasis on adolescence and early adulthood. Knowledge of developmental psychology is a useful prerequisite for educational work with children and adolescents. Subtopics: 1. Developmental psychology and its place in educational practice. Characteristics of selected age periods from a somatic, cognitive, emotional-motivational, and socialization perspective (early school age, puberty, adolescence, emerging adulthood, young adulthoodindividual development from ages 6 to 30). (2 hours) 2. Socialization and individuation of the individual. Forms of social learning (imitation, observation, social reinforcement/rewards and punishments, identification). The influence of family, peer groups, and interest groups. (2 hours) 3. Recognizing the developmental characteristics of students and their use in educational practice. (2 hours)

Learning outcomes
Objectives - I apply selected knowledge from developmental psychology as a basis for educational work in a school environment (teaching - relevant developmental requirements for curriculum content and its didactic processing); - I am able to apply the competency framework in all components in accordance with the developmental characteristics of students; - I understand not only the cognitive but also the social development of adolescents; I know what the cognitive, motivational, and social prerequisites for teaching in secondary schools are; - I connect knowledge about the socialization of individuals and social learning and apply it in educational work with adolescents; Competencies developed: 2.2., 2.4., 3.2., 5.1 see Competency Framework for Teaching Graduates

Oral exam

Oral examination verifying the application of developmental psychology knowledge in the work of a teacher, in the concept of teacher training, and in the educational and teaching work of a teacher.
