Course content
1. The importance of mental hygiene, definition of the concept of mental health, general assumptions of mental equilibrium. 2. Stress as a risk factor threatening mental balance - H. Selye. Adaptation system of the organism. 3. Causes and consequences of stress in the teaching profession. Common types of stressful situations at school. 4. Managing stress. Defense mechanisms, coping styles and strategies. 5. Resilience as a psychological characteristic - K. Paulík. Resilience - I. Šolcová, vulnerability - B. Brown. 6. Useful stress management techniques - meditation, relaxation, breathing, yoga. 7. The importance of spirituality and the perceived importance of life for mental health.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of mental hygiene and healthy lifestyle, and at the same time to gain a deeper understanding of self in connection with self-reflection and personality growth.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Mental hygiene 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply the principles of mental health in the school
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Interview, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment

Active participation of students in seminars. Critical analysis of the scholar text. Elaboration of the worksheets included in the e-learning. Verification of knowledge in discussion during a personal meeting in small groups.
