Course content
1. Reform pedagogical movement - historical overview and pedagogical starting point. New school and new education - new school movement. Alternative education systems. 2. Montessori pedagogical system - philosophy of the M. Montessori pedagogical system. 3. The concept of a child in M. Montessori pedagogy. 4. Pedagogical principles of M. Montessori system and its use for teachers of kindergarten. 5. Educational practice of pedagogy M. Montessori. 6. The importance of didactic material in the Montessori school. Cosmic education at M. Montessori. Practice of selected educational institutions working according to the principles of pedagogy M. Montessori - example of the Montessori kindergarten and elementary school in Jablonec nad Nisou and the elementary school in Tanvald - video presentation, video analysis. The basic part of the course is block of visits to Montessori schools in Jablonec nad Nisou Kokonín and Tanvald Šumburk. This is a practical part of the seminar where students supervise the selected principles of Montessori pedagogy and then analyze them with the teachers of the MŠ and the seminar leaders.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Observation

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to issues of Maria Montessori's pedagogical system as an example of an alternative educational concept that can be used widely for kindergarten teachers. The course introduces students not only to theoretical resources and principles of Montessori pedagogy but also with the current form of pedagogical Montessori practice.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Montessori pedagogy 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pre-school pedagogy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment

Regular pedagogical visits in kindergartens with elements of alternative pedagogical concepts - Montessori pedagogy, reflection and critical analysis of hospitations, presentation of reflection of hospitations, creation of a proposal for educational short-term program and work activities with regard to alternative pedagogical concepts - Montessori pedagogy.
