Course content
1. Pedagogical worker and his role in pedagogical research (user of research findings, object of research, researcher). Educational policy and educational research. 2. Qualitative research in education: opportunities and risks. Preparation of research project, issue of acquisition and treatment of data, their processing, interpretation and presentation. 3. Selected methods of qualitative educational research and possibility of their application - observation, interview, content analysis. 4. Possibilities and risks of joint research in pedagogy - joint research on example of Czech elementary school. 5. Specifics of research in field of adult education, pedeutology, ethopedics; examples of Czech research findings. 6. Less common methods and approaches used in pedagogical research - content analysis of texts, meta-analysis, Q-methodology, video study, case study, profesiography, testing, scientometric analysis, method of analogy, ethnographic research. 7. Less frequented themes and approaches used in pedagogical research - comparative and intercultural research, research on textbooks, research of social climate, repeated and longitudinal research.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on deeper and more demanding research topics, less common methods and broader scope in the context of the specifics of education; selectively, the content is applied to the skill level and the critical reflection of the research data.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Methodology of pedagogical research 2 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational practice
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of pedagogy and psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment

Active participation in seminars, performance of tasks, elaboration and defense of semestral paper(small research project), oral colloquium exam.
