Course content
The course introduced students of teaching on 1st grade with an educational system of Maria Montessori, as an example of alternative educational approach with broad application for 1st grade teachers. The course introduces students with theoretical principles and principles of montessori?pedagogy and with contemporary state of affair of montessori?s practice on the basis of cooperation with kindergarten Montessori in Jablonec nad Nisou and elementary school Montessori in Jablonec nad Nisou. 1. Philosophy of educational system of M. Montessori. 2. Image of children in education of M. Montessori. 3. Educational practice in pedagogy of M. Montessori. 4. Importance of didactic materials in montessori?schools. 5. Space education of M. Montessori. 6. Practice of selected schools working on the basis of M. Montessori ? example of kindergarten and elementary school of Montessori at Jablonec nad Nisou.

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with pedagogical system of Maria Motessori.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Theory and Practise of M. Montessori Approach 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of General Pedagogy and History of Pedagogy.

Student's performance analysis

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credit
