Course content
1. Definition of basic terms - management, leadership in relation to education. Types of leadership and possibilities of their application in education. 2. Basic problems of school management. Values, mission and vision of the school, school development plans. 3. School culture and social climate of the school, teaching staff and possibilities of their formation. Links with the quality of education in the school. 4. Introduction to legal theory - definition of basic legal concepts, sources of law, types of legal culture, division of law, legal relations, subjects of legal relations. 5. The Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, their application in school law. School Act and selected decrees. Law on teaching staff. Strategic documents of the Czech Republic in education. 6. Evaluation of schools and educational institutions. 7. Health and safety in schools and educational establishments.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), E-learning, Students' self-study
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 14 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 18 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The student will get basic information about school management and school legislation. The student understands the relationship between school legislation and school practice. Understand selected aspects of organisational management and people management. The student will become aware of the role of middle management in the school of which he/she may be a part. Understands the importance of collaboration in the teaching staff, ensuring health and safety in the school.
Student will be able: to orientate in the area of school management to understand the functioning of the Czech legal system to orient in the strategic educational documents of the Czech Republic to orient in the school legislation of the Czech Republic
Prerequisites
Graduate practice in school field.
