Course content
|
1. Psychological sciences and the subject of their research. Psychology as a scientific discipline dealing with behavioral manifestations and their conditionality; psychology as a science of thought and experience. Main psychological directions and their insight into human psyche. Current psychological disciplines and their methods. 2. Determination of human psyche - biological, environmental, socio-cultural; self-regulation; inner and outer. 3. Psychic and its dimensions - experience, behavior, consciousness, unconsciousness. Psychological processes and conditions. 4. Personality psychology - basic theories and approaches to studying personality. 5. Structure of personality. Systemic concept of personality. 6. Motivational tendencies in personality - instincts, needs, interests, aspiration. Physiological, psychological and social needs and their motivational effect. Hierarchy of needs in A. Maslow's theory. Will to meaning in V. E. Frankl's theory. Aggression - determination, socialization of aggression in the development of individuals and societies. 7. Dynamics of personality. Emotionality. Temperament. Typology of personality. 8. Typology of personality in children and its use in education. 9. Cognitive processes. Perception, memory, imagination, thinking, speech. 10. Skills, talents. Initial diagnostics of abilities. Teacher's work with a student based on his or her abilities. 11. Learning and its assumptions; reflex, instinct. Types of learning, learning patterns. 12. Intelligence - theory, determinations, types of intelligence. Measurement - traditional and contemporary concept of intellectual competence testing. 13. Thinking as a imperfect cognitive process. Thoughtful operations. Problem solving. The relationship of thought and speech; development of communication abilities in a child. 14. Self-regulatory qualities of personality. Self; integrity of personality. Conscience. Will. Relationship attitudinal characteristics of personality - character - conditionality and influences, acquisition of values system. Methodology of introspection and creation of characteristics of own personality.

Learning outcomes
|
The course provides an orientation in basic topics of general psychology and psychology of personality with application overlap to the work of a teacher with primary school pupils. Topics of lectures are studied in more detail in follow-up seminars.
After completion of the subject student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of General and personality psychology 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral paper 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process

Prerequisites
|
Student has basic knowledge of psychology from secondary school.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written assignment, Test
Active participation in lectures and seminars. Studying and developing a critical analysis of recommended scholar texts. Developing the characteristics of one's own personality. Passing a written test.
