Course content
1. Developmental stages of human life (by E. H. Erikson) 2. Biological and psychological parenthood 3. Basic psychological needs of children 4. Family system, family development, father's influence, mother's influence 5. Siblings and wider family 6. Roles, places and forces in family system 7. Adolescence, separation, unfinished separation and its influence on child 8. Pathological and dysfunctional family, disease as reflection of family's dysfunction 9. Educator's work with child from dysfunctional family

Learning outcomes
The aim is to present to students origins and functions of families and family like systems, family conceptions, roles and places of family members, family influence on children experience. The course presents child development since birth to adulthood and leaving primal family focusing on developmental specifics and its reflections in family system. The course presents types of parental educational styles, influence of mother and father on children of both sexes. The course connects theory with practical approach. It also focuses on family pathology and dysfunction. At last the course presents case interpretations that reflect child's needs who comes from dysfunctional family. The aim is to prepare future educators for perceiving possible differences which occurs with children from dysfunctional environment, and for possible intervention. The aim is also to provide students with holistic picture of child's experience and possibilities to influence through educational styles. Part of the course is an attendance at Counseling center for family, marriage and personal relationships at Liberec.
After completion of the subject student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Psychological topics of family 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral theses 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of general, developmental and social psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credit
