Course content
1. Concept of education in institutional care - objectives of educational process, approaches and principles of educational process, organization of educational and extracurricular activities in institutional care 2. Causes and ways of placement of children and youth in institutional and preventive care 3. Child as a client of institutional and preventive care - the best interests of child, psychological and social specifics of child development in institutional care, social network of child within and outside institutional care 4. System of prevention of risk behaviour in institutional and preventive care, risk behavior and possibilities of solving crisis situations for children and youth 5. Children and youth transition from institutional and preventive care to everyday life 6. System of institutional and preventive care of children and youth in the Czech Republic - legislative establishment, types of institutions (outpatient and residential) and their specifications, characteristics of clientele of institutional and preventive care, specialized personnel (social worker, educator, ethoped, psychologist), cooperation with other institutions concerned with upbringing and education of children (schools, educational institutions, leisure time institutions, police, court)

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
Students will acquire basic information about education in institutional and preventive care in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on institutional education. Students will be encouraged to understanding clients of institutional and preventive care, which are mainly children and youth, their parents and staff of institutional education. The emphasis will be to link psychic and social specifics of institutional education within educational process.
After completion of the course student will be able 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Education in institutional and preventive care 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral thesis 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational practice 5. to be motivated for continuous learning in the field
Prerequisites
Student has basic knowledge of developmental and social psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written assignment

Study objectives: 1. active participation on the lecture 2. participants will perform all given tasks 3. reading of relevant academic texts 4. writing a semestral academic paper 5. successful accomplishment of institutional objectives of the course - attainment above the minimum requirements for the award of credits
