Course content
|
1. Fundamentals of interpersonal communication, social interaction, small and large social group. 2. General communication model, meaning of communication feedback, some communication theories. 3. Verbal, non-verbal, paraverbal communication. 4. Communication by action. The first impression and its formation. 5. Listening and working with objections. 6. Manipulation in interpersonal communication, manipulation of apparent and hidden, recognition of manipulation and defense against it. 7. Conflicts, causes, context and conflict resolution. 8. Conflict resolution methods, constructive model of conflict resolution, examples from practice. 9. Assertiveness in human communication, meaning, assertive rights. 10. Passive and aggressive communication. 11. Assertiveness in family and school, assertive techniques. 12. Pedagogical communication, communication in the classroom. 13. Presentation skills, rhetoric.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge and skills in interpersonal communication, working with small social groups. In addition to the types of communication, emphasis is placed on the specifics of pedagogical communication, teacher and pupil communication, constructive conflict solution, adoption of assertiveness rules, importance of listening and questioning. In practical exercises, presented individually in front of the group, students will consolidate and verify acquired knowledge from the field of social communication in education.
After completion of the course student will be able: 1. to understand the content of prescribed curriculum of Basics of professional communication 2. to reflect the topic critically 3. to demonstrate specific intellectual skills gained in a course in writing of a semestral task 4. to apply gained knowledge in educational process

Prerequisites

Student has basic knowledge of psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Oral presentation of self-study, Written assignment
Active participation of students in the lectures, elaboration and presentation of given practical task. Group feedback.
