Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical information with practical implications on how to effectively develop reading literacy for both purposes of reading (reading for literary experience, reading for information acquisition) in primary school pupils. Students will be introduced to methods of working with text in the classroom (RWCT methods, critical thinking) and ways of assessing pupils' reading literacy. The course responds to the current need to develop pupils' reading literacy and their ability to read with understanding. Lectures will focus on the theoretical definition of literacy and introduce students to PIRLS and PISA reading literacy research. The seminars will mainly consist of practical work with artistic and non-artistic texts, which students will use to learn how to develop (and test) the reading literacy of elementary school students.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field.
