Course content
The subject is a basic theoretical introduction to the natural sciences, which are part of the educational area Man and His World. A hierarchical approach is used, from a description of the universe to specific natural biotopes and organisms that surround us. The interrelationships between the individual levels and the need for a comprehensive view are emphasised. It also includes learning the basic terminology for describing the nature around us. Thematic areas - lectures: The universe, the solar system, the Earth's movement around the Sun, the seasons on Earth. The Earth, size, shape, structure, seas and continents. Geological structure, basic classification of minerals and rocks. Geological processes, mountain-building processes, volcanism, erosion, landslides. Atmosphere, air, composition, dynamic processes, weather. Hydrosphere, water, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds. Pedosphere, soil, formation, structure and classification of soils, soil organisms, eutrophication. Biosphere, structure, biocycles, biomes, landscapes, ecosystems. Basics of the taxonomic system of organisms. Bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, algae. Basics of the taxonomic system of plants. Basics of the taxonomic system of invertebrates. Basics of the taxonomic system of vertebrates. Ecosystems - forest, meadow, field, pond. Ecosystems - surroundings of human dwellings, parks, gardens.
