Course content
|
Principles of Scientific Work and the Purpose of Academic Texts: Understanding the foundations and objectives of scholarly writing. Information Databases and Resources in Educational Sciences: Specificity of the thematic field and accessing relevant sources. Working with Academic Literature and Principles of Scholarly Writing: Terminology, literature review, compilation, citations, and ethical considerations. Construction of a Bachelor's Project: Topic selection, objectives, structure, methodology, discussion, sources, and formal requirements. Research in Educational Sciences: Specifics, possibilities, and risks associated with research in the field. Basic Research Methods and Tools: Questionnaires, observation, case studies, content analysis, and the specificity of the research field. Defense of the Bachelor's Thesis: Preparation and presentation of research findings and arguments.

Learning outcomes
|
The course acquaints students with basic principles of scientific work and with creation of bachelor thesis. The content of the course is focused on working with literature, the use of available data and its interpretation, the construction of a specialized text and the specificity of research in the science of education. The output is the elaboration of the bachelor thesis concept.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student's performance analysis, Oral presentation of self-study, Presentation of student research activity
Development of a bachelor's thesis concept based on the thematic focus (topic, objective, concept, sources). Preparation of a seminar/term paper, including: Analysis of an academic text, Analysis of a published research report, Thematic literature review, Design of a small-scale research project.
