Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. Health education in the context of human needs - biological, psychological, social. 2. Health education and bio-psycho balance of man. Human health and the position of man in the community and in society. 3. Man as a biological system. Man and health - biological, mental. General principles of first aid. 4. Biological and psychological balance and human health. Goals, methods and means of health education. 5. System structure. Basic structure of the organism. 6. Energy flow and cycle of matter in a biological system. 7. Respiratory system, vocal tract, air pollution, respiratory hygiene, smoking, behavior in smog situations. 8. Excretory system. Water balance of the organism. First aid for poisoning. 9. Vascular system. Integrating functions of the vascular system. Prevention of cardiovascular diseases. 10. Control of biological systems. First aid in case of failure of control mechanisms (shock states, allergies). 11. Nervous system. Reflex arc, higher functions of the nervous system, basics of mental hygiene. 12. Senses. Sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch. Lighting, temperature, noise pollution. 13. Endocrine system. Structure and function of individual glands with internal secretion. 14. Phylogenetic and ontogenetic development of man. Reproductive system. Basics of genetics. Mutagens in the environment. 15. Ontogenetic development of man from conception to death. Specific features of individual developmental stages. 16. Hygienic aspects of school practice.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Students' self-study
  • Class attendance - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 30 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course introduces the inclusion of humans in the biological system, the basics of anatomy, physiology and the basics of first aid. Attention is paid to current problems of the influence of the environment on health, the issue of drug addiction and education for personal responsibility for one's health. Developmental differences in individual stages of ontogenesis are continuously discussed, with a focus primarily on preschool and school age.
