Course content
|
Reform Pedagogical Movement: Historical overview and pedagogical foundations. The "New School" and "New Education" movements. Alternative schooling and alternative educational systems. M. Montessori's Pedagogical System: Philosophy of M. Montessori's pedagogical approach. The Concept of the Child in M. Montessori's Pedagogy: Understanding the child's role in Montessori education. Pedagogical Principles of M. Montessori's System: Application for teachers in primary education. Educational Practices in M. Montessori's Pedagogy: Practical implementation of Montessori principles. The Importance of Didactic Materials in Montessori Education: Montessori's cosmic education approach. Practical examples from selected Montessori institutions, including video demonstrations and analysis of Montessori preschool (MŠ) and primary school (ZŠ) in Jablonec nad Nisou and Tanvald. Summary of Content: Consolidation of the acquired knowledge. Practical Component: An essential part of the course includes block observations at Montessori Preschool Jablonec nad Nisou Kokonín and Montessori Primary School Tanvald Šumburk. This observational, practical seminar component involves students systematically observing selected Montessori principles and later analyzing them with preschool teachers and the seminar leader.

Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students to issues of Maria Montessori's pedagogical system as an example of an alternative educational concept that can be used widely for kindergarten teachers. The course introduces students not only to theoretical resources and principles of Montessori pedagogy but also with the current form of pedagogical Montessori practice.

Regular Pedagogical Observations in Preschools with Elements of Alternative Pedagogical Concepts - Montessori Pedagogy Conduct regular observations in preschools implementing alternative pedagogical approaches, with a focus on Montessori pedagogy. Engage in reflection and critical analysis of the observations, emphasizing the application of Montessori principles. Present reflections on the observations to peers, highlighting key insights and areas for improvement. Develop a proposal for a short-term educational program and an activity plan tailored to Montessori pedagogical principles, incorporating practical, child-centered tasks that align with alternative educational approaches.
