Course content
Europe, European Identity, and European Institutions (European cultural values, European identity and Czech national tradition, processes of European unification, and European institutions). The Intersection of National and European Dimensions in Individual and School Life (Overcoming national cultural traditions in a European context, our relationships with European countries, region - state - Europe). Europe and Education (The European as an educational objective, European mobility programs, the changing role and structure of the family in European countries). European Education and Schools (Education towards tolerance and openness as the foundation of European education). The Image of Europe in Students' Perceptions - A Student Project (Analysis of educational content from the perspective of European education criteria, analysis of curriculum content based on the criteria of the European dimension). Preparation and Implementation of an External Seminar (Visit to Czech and German "European schools" in the Euroregion).

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Active metods (simulation, situational contingency methods, drama,acting, namagerial acting ), Lecture, Practicum

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the issue of the European dimension in education, acquaints with the basic European institutions and leads to a critical reflection on historical and actual contexts of the coexistence of European nations. The seminars aim at cultivating positive attitudes in the area of tolerance, openness, cooperation and responsibility in the field of Europeanism, so that students in their future pedagogical activities develop pupils' awareness of European identity while respecting national identity.
