Course content
|
Thematic areas - lectures: 1. Basic musical concepts, tone and its properties, tonal system, musical notation. 2. Musical kinetics and its reflection in music theory, performance markings. 3. Major and minor scales, church scales. 4. Basic and derived intervals, auditory analysis using the melodic method. 5. Fifth chords, their basic types and inversions. 6. Harmonic functions and their use. 7. Basics of musical forms, musical instruments of the symphony orchestra. 8. Cadences in keys - C, G, D, A, F. 9. Stylized accompaniment and its use in songs, bagpipe fifth, arpeggio, breakdown, alternating bass. 10. Chromatic progressions of fifth chords and their use. 11. Rules for reading chord symbols and their realization in piano and guitar accompaniment. 12. Overture and postlude, interlude, simple modulation using the dominant seventh chord. 13. Basics of using the right pedal, connecting pedal, chord pedal, sound pedal. 14. Preparation for public performance and its aspects.

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on consolidating and deepening knowledge, particularly in the areas of music theory, vocal activities, and instrumental performance. The piano and guitar are the most commonly used instruments in teaching. All topics are presented and covered with practical needs in mind. The course is intended for students of the music department who wish to deepen their knowledge of music theory, vocal activities, and instrumental performance.
