Course content
|
The course is focused on basic information about problems of writting and design. Students study various typography systems and practice calligraphy, posters and book design.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
|
Historical development of writing systems, types of writing systems. Utilization of letters as artistic elements in art education lessons in elementary school. Playing with letters. New shape configurations, symmetric paraphrase. Static and dynamic arrangement of component units. Playing with a writing system and shape associations. Transformation of a shape to another shape (process phases). Compositional solving of a plane (a poster, a book cover, an advertisement). Essentials of calligraphy (sans-serif, italic). Sign, symbol, logotype. Pictogram, initial, monogram, ex-libris.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Presentation of acquired experience via portfolio
The course is held in Czech language, the requirements are stated in the Czech version.
