Lectures: 1. Introduction to the course. Social policy, basic terminology. 2. Functions of social work in the system of social policy. Subject, goals and principles of social policy. 3. Principles and tools of social policy. Relationship between social policy and other disciplines especially social work. 4. Macrosocial and macro-economic dimensions of social policy. Social and economic demands. 5. Human rights and social policy history - genesis of social and human rights. 6. Human rights and social policy history - genesis of social political ideas and institutions. Legislation - in the CR, EU and in the world. 7. The development of social policy in the CR and the world, including the time after 1989. Experts of social policy in the CR and the world. 8. Subjects and objects of social policy. 9. Formulating social programs and social-political strategies. Social risks, social and life accidents. Dominant social issues. 10. Social security system and its institutions, connected legislation. 11. Poverty - kinds, causes, consequences. Ways to measure, solve poverty, social political context. 12. Social exclusion - causes and consequences, solutions, triangle of welfare. 13. Welfare state - definitions, foundation and development. Typologies of welfare state. 14. Welfare state - positives, risks of welfare state. Welfare state crisis, present state and development. Types of social policies. Seminars: 1. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: functions of social work in the system of social policy. Mind maps. 2. This course is for the students to learn the basic terminology, history, goals, principles and development of social policy, its theories and methodology. Students also learn the general legislation, understand it, and apply this theoretical basis into the practise and social work practise
