Course content
Lectures: 1. Basic terminology medical sciences in the social work context. Helath and disease, bio-psycho-social balance and its disorders. Diseases - somatic, psychosomatic. Objective and subjective symptoms. 2. Health disorders, health disabilities. Cooperation between the Ministry of education and the Ministry of social affaires and the Ministry of health. National and international documents conected with health and disease. Patients rights. Introduction to epidemiology. 3. Anatomy, physiology and pathology of some somatic systems - motion system - muscles, bones. 4. Anatomy, physiology and pathology of some somatic systems - cardio and breathing. 5. Anatomy, physiology and pathology of some somatic systems - digesting and sexual system. 6. Anatomy, physiology and pathology of some somatic systems - neoro, senses, endocrinology. 7. Introduction to the first aid - resuscitation, unscounsciousmess, bleeding, shock, etc. Seminars: 1. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: health and disease, bio-psycho-social balance. 2. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: helath disabilities, health disorders, cooperation betwenn ministries, national and international documents. 3. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: anatomy, physiology and pathology of muscles and bones. 4. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: anatomy, physiology and pathology of cardio and breathing. 5. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: anatomy, physiology and pathology of digesting system. 6. Students presentations and following reflective discussion of the topic: anatomy, physiology and pathology of neoro and endocrinology systems. 7. Practical training of the first aid process

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence

Learning outcomes
The discipline brings the information from theoretical, pre-clinical and clinical medicine disciplines; deals with the issues of health and disease mainly from the biological point of view. Students learn the basic information from somatology, physiology and pathology, epidemiology and expert medical terminology. Students learn basic information necessary to understand symptoms of the most common diseases, the ways to cure them or rehabilitate the symptoms of health disabilities or chronic disease. Students use this knowledge in following disciplines of their studies. Students learn the main strategies of laic first aid, life saving procedures, and preventiof of injuries
