Lectures: 1. Introduction to Descriptive Statistics, Basic Statistical Terms. 2. Elementary Methods of Data Processing. 3. Descriptive Measures. 4. Introduction to Probability, Basic Terms. 5. Random Event, Event Probability. 6. Random Variable, Probability Distribution, Characteristics. 7. Discrete Probability Distributions. 8. Continuous Probability Distributions. 9. Introduction to Mathematical Statistics, Point Estimations. 10. Interval Estimations. 11. Hypotheses Testing, Basic Terms. 12. Parametric Tests. 13. Nonparametric Tests. Tutorials: 1. Basic work with the program STATGRAPHICS. 2. Tables frequency distribution, graphical data processing. 3. Calculation and interpretation of statistical characteristics. 4. Application of the rules for calculating probabilities. 5. The distribution of random variables, the calculation of basic characteristics. 6. The distribution of discrete random variables. 7. Distribution of continuous random variables. 8. Processing of data from surveys, point estimates. 9. Interval estimation, the minimum sample size. 10. Parametric tests. 11. Non-parametric tests.

Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces basic statistical tools and methods of data processing. It adresses system of descriptive characteristics, includes introduction to theory of probability and mathematical statistics.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
