Course content
Lectures: 1. Definition of technological process of production of woven fabric. Selection of woven fabric. 2.-4. Preparation of dobby woven fabric - definition of construction parameters of fabric, definition of weaves 5.-6. Preparation of jacquard woven fabric - definition of construction parameters of fabric, CAD system for preparation of pattern 7. Excursion 8. Weaving loom definition - shuttles and shuttle, definition of basic mechanism of weaving machine 9.-11. Technological process of material preparation and fabric manufacturing 12.-13. Insertion mechanism of weaving machine 14. Shedding mechanism of weaving machine Practices: 1. Definition of basic project works 2. Presentation of technological process in weaving lab 3.-6. Project 1: realisation and weaving of dobby fabric using CCI weaving loom 7. Excursion 8.-13 Project 2: realisation and weaving simple jacquard fabric on electronic sheding mechanisms Staubli, using EAT system DesignScopeVictor CAD 14. Presentation and defence of the project.

Learning outcomes
Within this subject students obtain information focused on main areas: technological description of production of woven fabric, individual operations of material preparation for weaving and preparation of pattern (winding, warping, sizing, drawing-in); characterisation of shed and possibilities in interlacing of threads - dobby and jacquard shedding mechanisms, basic principles of the weaving technology; theoretical aspects of the weaving process; definition of weaving loom, weft insertion possibilities. Basic weaves as well as design of dobby and jacquard fabric.
Orientation in these fields: technology of material preparation for weaving, basic principles of weaving technology, weaving looms and individual mechanisms, basic weaves.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of textiles.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Presentation of acquired knowledge via paper

Credit: Presentation and defence of project work. Examination: oral. Lectures (first enrolment) are required. Lectures for second and third enrolment are not required, but are recommended. In the case of the second and third enrolment, the credit is not recognized. It is necessary to complete the practices and thus submit projects 1 and 2. Distance form: Active participation with the teacher in the distance form within the assigned topics, elaboration of the assignment of the relevant topics assigned by the distance form. Submission of assignments and project work Exam: oral.
