Course content
|
Lectures and seminars: 1. Introduction to the history of physical culture. Education and physical culture in prehistoric and ancient civilizations. 2. Education and physical culture of ancient Greece and Rome. 3. Education and physical culture in the Middle Ages - feudalism. 4. Physical culture during humanism and renaissance periods. 5. Early bourgeois directions of education and physical culture. Physical education systems of the 19th century. 6. Physical education systems of the 20th century. Women's physical education directions and sport. 7. Origin and development of modern sport and Olympic movement. 8. Origin and development of physical education in our country and abroad. 9. Out-of-school education and children and youth organisations in our country and abroad. 10. Czechoslovak physical culture until the end of the World War I. 11. Czechoslovak physical culture after the World War I to the present. 12. Czechs in the modern Olympic movement. 13. Revision. Historical quiz. 14. Credit test.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the history and development of physical culture from the oldest times up to present, to show the basic ideas of Olympic movement and also to give the general knowledge of world sports events.

|
Mastering the secondary school history curriculum.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Combined examination, Written exam, Essay
Course credit requirements: Participation at the seminars, preparation of a seminar project, credit test (at least 70 % required, at least 50 % required for resit). Examination requirements: Oral examination (draw from the range of questions).
