Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Preparation for independent artistic practice - challenges and opportunities associated with working as an independent artist. 2. Academic artistic activity - the functioning and role of artists in the academic environment. 3. International art scene -involvement and orientation in the global context of contemporary art. 4. Projects responding to Open Calls - preparation of projects based on gallery calls, residency programs and competitions. 5. Application of theory to practice - how to use theoretical knowledge in the implementation of art projects. 6. Development of presentation skills - ability to effectively present one?s own artistic work. 7. Communication skills - improving the ability to discuss and defend one?s work in English. 8. Gallery and residency projects - how to successfully respond to the challenges of residency programs and galleries. 9. International art competitions - preparation and applications for competitions and Open Calls abroad. 10. Presentation of CV and portfolio - creation of a professional CV and artistic portfolio in English. 11. Defense of projects in English - skills for presentation and defense of art projects in an international context. 12. Discussion of the art scene - analysis and discussion of successful examples of contemporary art. 13. Current trends in art - expanding awareness of current trends and directions in art. 14. Preparation for the international art environment - skills and strategies for operating on the international scene.

Learning outcomes
The course prepares master's students for the challenges of independent artistic practice and independent activity within the academic environment and on the international art scene. Students will work on projects that respond to open gallery calls, residencies and competitions. While working on these projects, they will learn to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice and develop their presentation and communication skills. They will also discuss the best examples of artistic practice, thereby expanding their awareness of current trends in contemporary art. Students will acquire the skills to present their work in English, including presenting a CV and portfolio, prepare for international art competitions or Open Calls and defend their projects in English and lead a professional discussion about them.
