Course content
"Archaeology" of the medium - avant-garde and experimental film. Technical and formal analysis of video (videoart). Video as a means of researching into the phenomenal world. Video as a means of recording happenings and performances; creation of video-performances and video-installations. Video as a means of personal (physical, gender-related) expression. Video as a means of social intervention and a specific type of contact with the audience.

Learning outcomes
Archeology, media, avant-garde and experimental film. Technical and formal analysis of video (video art). Video as a means of exploring the phenomenal world. Video as a means of recording happenings and performances, creating video performances and video installations. Video as a means of personal expression (physical, gender). Video as a means of social intervention and a specific way of contact with a viewer.
To be aware of relations between art history and visual culture.

A credit with a grade: presentation of a video as part of a lecture, an essay, a discussion over the essay.
