The course introduces the students into experimental methods in the mechanics of elastic bodies, namely strain gauge measurements and optical methods in deformation measurements.
Through laboratory experiments, the students learn to apply the experimental methods in solid mechanics in practical situations of structures loaded by various stresses, to perform data acquisition, process the results and write a measurement report. Instead of using pre-built setups and data acquisition systems, the students realize a self-made measurement chain, beginning with transducer installation and ending by creating a simple measurement software.
