Educational goals
|
The ultimate objective of the three years of the Historical and museological studies is to introduce qualified, college educated professionals with knowledge of the history of the human kind and its art and culture since the Middle Ages till the 20th Century (Prehistory and Ancient history are introduced as optional). Great attention is devoted to museology and introductory courses of archival and gallery sciences and monument preservation. The graduate will master basic methods of cultural historians work, museum or monument preservation institution worker or any historically cultural or memory institution.

Graduates of the Historical and museological studies can continue their studies in FP TUL´s curriculum History or similar curriculum of some other university.

Study programme focus
|
The student will obtain knowledge about history of human society since Early Middle Ages till the present time. Czech or Czechoslovakian history is taught in the context of the World history. In this way the students are motivated to comprehend particular aspects in wide context, which would not be possible with separate courses of Czech and World history. During the bachelor program they will obtain basic knowledge of the historians work and historiography and apply them during numerous excursions. Through mastering methodological, paleographical and other skills he will be able to work with written, audiovisual and other types of historical sources. History of culture and art (taught together) are another important parts of the curriculum. Museology (and museological didactics ) is in fact an important part of the curriculum combined with archival and gallery sciences and monument preservation lessons. Education is provided also with many professionals working for research and memory institutions. Praxis is going to provide an perfect opportunity for students to apply their theoretical knowledge. Regional history and historiography (especially of the Liberec and Czech Republic in general) is also taught. Optional lessons offer focus on particular periods or problems of history for example introductory course of prehistory and ancient history, regional ethnology or religionistics and embracing modern worldwide trends also courses linking modern/digital technologies and humanities. Student can chose between block of courses focused on history of textile and the block focused on history of glass and bijouterie, this is on the ground of the Liberec region specifics. Student can choose also from great deal of various sub-optional courses - even from other scientific fields.

Depending on the stage of required education the graduates of the Historical and museological studies can work in museums, galleries, archives, monument preservation institutions and other culture and memory institutions, also in the public administration and local administration. They can work as speakers for cultural institutions, journalists, in tourism, OSVČ etc. They can continue their studies in FP TUL´s curriculum History or similar curriculum of some other university.
