Graduate profile
|
Students graduating from study programme Materials and Technology will gain knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials, their technological processing and subsequent use in a wide range of applications. They will learn about the processing of materials and the evaluation of their performance in terms of the internal structure of materials, physical chemistry, thermodynamics and mechanics. They will acquire a broad knowledge of conventional and progressive manufacturing technologies and will be oriented in the issues of manufacturing procedures from production preparation, through its implementation, to final acceptance, for both chip and non-chip manufacturing technologies. Thanks to the planned active way of teaching with practical demonstrations and a number of laboratory tasks (with emphasis on independent decision-making and defending the obtained results), the graduate will be able to integrate much faster and more successfully into the production sphere in a relatively wide range of work activities, as currently required by industrial partners. The study programme also has the ambition to prepare graduates for possible study in the follow-up accredited doctoral study programme P0788D270002 Technology and Materials. The graduate profile of the study programme is specified by the knowledge and skills outcomes: 1. Within the framework of the compulsory courses, the graduate will acquire knowledge related to: " The nature, possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of different chip and non-chip manufacturing The advantages and disadvantages of non-particle and particle processing technologies, as well as current trends in technological development. " A broad portfolio of materials including steels (structural, tool, high strength and fine grain, TRIP, TWIP, CP, IF and creep resistant steels and stainless and refractory steels) and non-ferrous materials (Al, Mg, Zn, Ti, Ni and their alloys). Basic information on metal composites. " Enhancing the performance of products by means of functional layers (thermal, physical and chemical processes). " Metrology, technical measurement and experimental methods. " Parts of machinery and production equipment, including their automation and robotic capabilities. " Destructive and non-destructive testing of materials at ambient temperature and at higher and possibly lower temperatures. 2. In the framework of compulsory elective courses, the graduate will acquire knowledge concerning: " The influence of technological processing on the mechanical properties and performance of the material and the possibility of their elimination. " The possibilities and applicability of simulation calculations in the production processes of casting, surface forming, welding and heat treatment. " The nature, possibilities, advantages and disadvantages and application of special and hybrid manufacturing technologies and methods. 3. The graduate will have skills related to: " Design and control of manufacturing processes. " Application of simulation calculations in the pre-production stage and in production with regard to optimization. " Ensuring technological preparation of production. " Designing machine layouts, material flow, workplace continuity, etc. " Determination of production control and quality control, material and technological tests. Preparation of quotations, assessment
