s legislativou a definicemi EU.

The thesis dealt with the issue of terrorism perception. It resulted both from the definitions and legislation dealing with this issue, which are valid especially for EU countries and for Euro-Atlantic area and from the opinions of people in two regions, namely in the Euro-Atlantic area, sample represented the population of the CR and in Middle East, sample represented the population of the Iraq.
The aim of the thesis was to highlight the different perceptions of what is or is not an act of terrorism for people of those parts the world, such as Middle East and Euro-Atlantic area. The thesis determined two premises. There will exist minimal 50% difference in perception of acts of terrorism among the respondents from the Czech Republic and Iraq and at least 80 % of respondents from the Iraqian population have experienced the acts which are considered as terrorism according referred legislation.
The practical part of the thesis uses a method of a questionnaire so that the perception of acts of terrorism could be compared. Its purpose was to determine opinions of two groups of respondents on the subject. The first group consisted of 50 respondents from Iraq (Baghdad residents) and the second group consisted of 40 respondents from the Czech Republic. The results were compared not only among themselves but also with the EU legislation and EU definitions.
The research shows that the differences in perception of the problem are considerable, especially in issues concerning the terrorist groups.
