Course content

Lectures: 1. Andragogy and adult education as a discipline on an adult with specific needs. 2. An adult with specific needs in the labor market and in the education process. 3. Lifelong learning and learning of adults with specific needs. 4. Age and aging from the point of view of current theoretical concepts. Demography. 5. Introduction to special elderly education and gerontagogy. 6. Healthy aging and its determinants. 7. Institutional provision of elderly education. Lifelong learning and education. Seminars: 1. Current approaches to counselling for people with specific needs in adulthood and old age. 2. Methods and techniques in education of adults with specific needs. 3. Further education systems. 4. Excursion to an institution that offers the adult education and education for the elderly. 5. Critical reflection of the excursion. Theories and demography of aging. 6. Methods and form of education for the elderly. Specific demands for the lecturers. 7. Barriers and determinants of the education for the elderly.

Learning outcomes
|
The course enables students to understand the concepts of special adult education and special elderly education in the socio-economic, cultural and educational context. The subject acquaints with the basic concepts and problems solved in both disciplines. It presents special andragogy and special elderly education as multidisciplinary disciplines and introduces students to their position in the system of sciences. The student will get an overview of the different aspects of the educational process, methods, principles, forms and concepts.
