Course content

The subject is realized in the form of practical training of a student at a selected workplace in the health and social area, where he / she chooses from a range of institutions. practical training in the second semester takes the form of continuous practical training - one day a week throughout the semester under the guidance of a mentor and, in the case of a facility with which the educational institution has a framework cooperation agreement, under the guidance of a tutor. The mentor / tutor is responsible for the professional supervision of the course implementation and evaluates the student in the logbook, where he / she daily records the student's attendance and individual practical activities. Upon completion, the mentor / tutor prepares the student's assessment. Practical training is realized in natural conditions by institutions providing social services and health and social services, where students learn about the reality of social work performance, acquire practical skills and identify with the profession of social worker and at the same time apply to practice the acquired theoretical knowledge and skills. Possible uncertainties of students with the choice of equipment for the practice of practical training can be consulted with the head of practical training (tutor) in the framework of individual consultations on practical training. The content of practical training is divided into four basic areas - social administration, social diagnostics, social prevention and protection and social assistance. In the course of practical training, the student acquires and deepens social and professional competences, i.e. to develop effective communication, to orientate in the problem and to plan progress, to support and help to self-sufficiency, to effectively intervene and to provide services, to contribute to the organization's work, to grow professionally. The ultimate goal of practical training is to guide the student to the critical reflection of the social worker's profession, leading to self-reflection and personal and professional growth.
