Course content
Lectures: 1. Health policy - principles, functions, tools, health care, health insurance, finance in the CR and the world. 2. Health policy - social benefits and services for the people with health difficulties. Social events connected with health difficulties and diseases. 3. Housing policy - principles, functions, tools, transformation of the housing policy. Social living. Legislation. 4. Family policy - principles, functions, tools, transformation, typologies, context of the CR and EU. 5. Education policy - principles, functions, tools, subjects. 6. Education policy - financing, approach towards education in the Czech Republic and in EU. Education system in the CR and the world. 7. Social security - principles, functions, tools, pillars of social security and their definitions. Legislation. 8. Social security - the third pillar - social help (care) and the fourth pillar - pension savings. Connection between the social security and economy. 9. Employment policy and the issues of labour market - labour market, kinds of labour market, social and cultural capital, subjects and objects of labour market. 10. Employment policy - active and passive employment policy, employment services, unemployment - kinds, types, consequences, present issues. 11. European social policy - history and development, dimensions and harmonization, integration of the European social policy systems. 12. European social policy - institutions and their present development, legislation and international documents. 13. Social reform - terminology, goals, objects, social systems. 14. Social reform - strategies and methods, trends, legislation. Seminars: 1. Student ´s presentations and following reflective discussion: health policy - principles, functions, tools, health care. Learning outcomes
In this course students learn how to use basic terminology from the area of social policy. Students know the legislation, they are able to look them up and get the right information of it. Students know individual social events and are able to look appropriate legislation. Strategies and method of social reforms in the Czech Republic and in the world.
