Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the course. Work as a basic element - its meaning. Labour market, its segments, offer and request. 2. Social changes and the development of labour market including the state social policy, flexibility. Gender issues and discrimination. 3. Principles for the employment policy of the state - goals, subjects, objects. Active and passive employment policy. 4. Unemployment as economic, social, ethical, psychological problem. Social work with the unemployed. Endangered groups on the labour market. 5. Counselling for the unemployed - the system in state administration, the role of NGO sector. Specific projects. Requalification. 6. International employment policy and labour market - special features of the labour markets in EU, USA, Japan. 7. World trends in the employment policy and labour market - organizations involved, free movement of workers, international documents. Seminars: 1. Learning outcomes
In his course the students learn the fundamental theoretical approaches towards employment and labour market. Students will be able to understand the relations between economic, social and social-political mechanisms in the social system. Students will understand the mechanisms of labour market and the influence the employment policy can have on it
